Dr. Kiran Shinde heads the Planning program at La Trobe University in Australia. He combines research training of an academic and professional practice of a planner with vast experience in different planning sectors across India and Australia. While he teaches environmental planning and urban design related subjects at La Trobe, he is a leading scholar in research on religious, cultural, and heritage tourism and their intersections with urban planning and management. He has awarded UN-Habitat’s coveted international “Asian Townscape Award” for the project “Adaptive Reuse of historic Bund Garden Bridge into Arts Plaza, Pune, India”. Dr. Shinde is also the Founder of Pune Biennale- a festival that celebrates art, design, and architecture in public spaces in Pune that has implemented a wide range of urban placemaking projects. He is trained under Pritzker award winner B.V. Doshi and renowned architect A.P. Kanvinde.
