Senior Strategic Planner

We service largely local council and state government bodies bringing multidisciplinary teams together on projects of various scales. Position Description
The role:
- Contributes to the preparation of a range of strategic planning projects for State and Local Government.
- Requires the successful candidate to lead certain parts of the project including project management, plan/strategy preparation and procurement and delivery of technical work, delivery of high-quality advice and problem solving for urban problems.
- Will assist in the delivery of strategic plans and implementation tools, including those focused on activity centres, MAC/commercial/town centre planning, renewal areas, residential areas including housing and neighbourhood character strategies, industrial areas and urban change areas.
Key Accountabilities
- Take a leading role in the preparation of structure plans, planning scheme amendments, planning controls and other strategic plans across Victoria.
- Lead research and analysis of strategic and statutory documents relating to urban and regional planning and prepare simple reports.
- Engage with stakeholders such as council and state government officers, local communities, landowners and developers in formulating strategic plans to achieve client objectives.
- Assist with consultation and negotiations with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Prepare briefs and presentations for senior team members.
- Work with multi-disciplinary project teams on the preparation of strategic plans in accordance with State Guidance including Planning Practice Notes, Ministerial Directions and the Practitioners Guide.
- Prepare and / or direct the preparation of quality drawings, plans, graphics and other visual aids, both of a conceptual and technical nature, including layout design analysis and graphic representation of landscape, structure, infrastructure, built and natural features to communicate key messages.
- Support senior team members in preparing policy guidance and recommendation.
- Lead procurement processes for external technical advice in accordance with P2P policies and processes.
- Utilise project management skills and systems, as well as personal initiative, to manage projects in a timely and effective manner and to deliver best practice urban planning outcomes.
- Plan and prioritise their work program effectively and realistically to achieve agreed outputs within timelines. This includes tracking time across projects and basic project management without supervision.
- Other tasks as reasonably directed related to the role.

- The position reports to the Director, Plan2Place Consulting, with daily HR related enquiries managed by the Business Manager, Plan2Place Consulting.
- The position is located at the offices of Plan2Place Consulting. Address at point of engagement is 101A/692 High Street, Thornbury VIC 3071.
- This position will be required to work from the office for a minimum of four days a week. Any work from home arrangements are to be negotiated with the Director ahead of time. This requirement may change at the discretion of the organisation/manager.
