Job Description
Opportunity: The City of Albany’s Development Services Team is looking for an experienced, motivated and qualified individual to take up the role of Senior Planning Officer.
Reporting to the Coordinator Development Assessment and Customer Relations, this role will see you responsible for overseeing the timely and efficient processing of development and subdivision applications and the delivery of professional advice to the City and community on various planning matters, with a focus on delivering high-quality customer experience and outcomes, that align with the City's strategic objectives and statutory requirements.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You: Experience in the use of urban and regional planning frameworks, including detailed knowledge of statutory, policy, and strategic planning principles. The candidate should have a proven track record in assessing and determining development applications in accordance with relevant legislation.
The successful candidate will also need a tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or an equivalent field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to mentor and train staff. The candidate should be adaptable to organisational change and have experience in implementing updates to planning processes. A ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence and National Police Clearance are mandatory, while additional qualifications in leadership and bushfire assessment are considered highly desirable.
