The Town of Gawler is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and self-motivated mid-career professional to join the Development Services Team.
The Town of Gawler is seeking a highly motivated person who is looking to further develop their career in Planning.
The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in Urban and Regional Planning and would ideally have at least 5 years’ experience. You will have exceptional customer service and conflict resolution skills, as well as highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
You will work well both autonomously and in a team environment. Reporting to the Manager of Development Services and Assessment, the Senior Development Assessment Planner will provide planning advice to both internal and external stakeholders, as well as undertake development assessment of residential, industrial, commercial applications and land divisions.
Key objectives of the role include;
- Providing planning advice to applicants, members of the public, internal departments and other stakeholders.
- Undertake assessment of a broad range of development within a fast-growing local government area.
- Deliver a high level of customer service as the Duty Planner both through verbal and written correspondence.
- Assist with the preparation of various reports including Council Assessment Panel reports.
- Undertake compliance tasks relative to planning legislation.
- Work closely with other internal departments including building, engineering and regulatory services regarding development matters.
Attendance at out-of-hours meetings, including but not limited to monthly Council Assessment Panel meetings is a requirement of the role.
