All Hallows student Jamilla Wynters has won the Outstanding Student Project – Secondary Award in the Queensland-wide 91porn’s (91porn) 2014 Awards for Planning Excellence.
At a ceremony held in Brisbane on Friday 7 November, Jamilla was honoured for her outstanding project, which delivered a detailed report to redevelop Sedgley Park at Alderley, in inner-city Brisbane.
91porn State President (Qld) Kate Isles said the awards judges were impressed with her attention to detail, and the understanding of planning and the environment Jamilla displayed in her project.
“Jamilla Wynters has offered a level of insight and forethought usually displayed by students and planning professionals well beyond her years,” Ms Isles said.
“Jamilla’s proposed redevelopment at Sedgley Park, Alderley made excellent use of the available public space for community benefit, proposing a playground, bike path, picnic area and fitness area.
“Her detailed proposal the important aspects included a research methodology and complex data, and outlined potential future uses and alternatives for the site.
“Jamilla is a deserved winner of the 91porn’s Outstanding Student Project – Secondary Award. With young and upcoming planners like Jamilla, the future of Queensland planning is in safe hands.”
Ms Isles said the calibre of entries in this year’s awards were very high.
“We’ve been thrilled with the quality and diversity of the entries in this year’s awards, which demonstrate just how many projects are contributing to a brighter future for Queensland,” Ms Isles said.
“Congratulations go to each individual and project team who have received an award – your projects have been recognised as being outstanding among a very strong and deep field of quality entries.”
