We’re looking for one DA Planner with a minimum of 2 years’ experience and a Senior Planner with a minimum of 6 years’ experience. The DA Planner Role:
- Managing enquiries related to application submissions and regulatory processes
- Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with approved development conditions
- Preparing and presenting reports and written correspondence for both internal and public audiences
- Collaborating with senior planners and contributing to ongoing policy development
- Maintaining accurate records and adhering to the Council’s standards for safety and environmental management.
The Senior Planner Role (in addition to the role of the DA Planner):
- Offering expert planning advice to the community
- Overseeing the assessment and determination of development applications
- Mentoring and providing support to a team of development assessment staff
- Collaborating with the Development Assessment Section to improve and enhance the development assessment service, systems and processes
- Leading the day-to-day activities of a Development Assessment Team.
About You
- Tertiary Qualifications/ at degree level in Town Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or equivalent field.
- Experience (a minimum of 2 years for DA Planners and a minimum of 6 years for SenPlanners) in the Town or Urban Planning industry or related field (preferably in local government and in NSW).
- Sound experience in development assessment and urban design assessment and analysis.
- In-depth knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979, and other relevant legislation and regulations.
- Negotiation and conflict resolution skills, including the ability to mediate outcomes and liaise with community focus/precinct groups.
- Well-developed skills in the assessment and resolution of complex planning, heritage and urban design issues associated with major development applications.
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and to balance and respond flexibly to competing priorities.
- Excellent written and oral communication, report writing, presentation, computer and administrative skills.
- Current C Class drivers’ licence.
