The opportunity
Due to internal promotion, we have a rare and exciting opportunity to lead our Development Panning Team!
This is a key leadership role at Council in the Community Futures Directorate. We’re looking for a forward thinking leader, who has had experience in a broad range of town planning functions in NSW. You'll be outcome focused, pragmatic, customer focused and be able to resolve complex planning problems and develop strong working relationships.
As the Development Planning Team Coordinator, you’ll be leading a team of 7 highly motivated and engaged statutory town planners. They love to challenge the status quo and strive to go above and beyond when it comes to delivering for their customers and the community. They thrive to deliver a high level professional and expeditious planning service to customers and the community with respect to all development assessment matters.
Councils Development Planning Coordinator is tasked with achieving balanced planning outcomes, meeting customer expectations and meeting or exceeding key performance targets.
- This is a permanent opportunity - working full-time 35 hours / week + access to a flexible working arrangement
- Base Salary Range: $113,135 - $133,104 pa based on 35 hours / week + 11.5% superannuation + $18,619 motor vehicle allowance + $2,312 retention allowance
- You will be working from PSC Administration Building, Raymond Terrace

- To provide a high level of professional and expeditious service to customers, senior staff, elected members, the development industry and the community with respect to development assessment and statutory land use planning matters
- Continuously improve the Development Planning Team systems, capabilities, processes and relationships
- Lead the Development Planning Team to determine development applications within agreed processing times against key performance targets
- To actively participate as a member of the Development and Compliance Leadership Team and Combined Community Futures Leadership Team
- To provide professional planning advice on State significant applications, legislative or policy amendments and support other planning functions at Council
- Continuously strive to deliver best practice development assessment services
- To establish and maintain a strong working relationship with internal and external customers and stakeholders

- Tertiary qualifications (degree or higher) in town planning or equivalent which would qualify for membership with the 91porn
- Extensive experience in development assessment and knowledge of legislation relevant to the position including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Biodiversity Conservation Act and Local Government Act 1993
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing town planning teams
- Demonstrated ability to plan, motivate and supervise a team to achieve performance targets and foster team relationships with a commitment to staff development through training and coaching
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Driver’s License – Class C
