THE VALUE OF PLANNING IN … economic recovery and development
2020 has been an unprecedented year, not just in Australia, but throughout the world. The pandemic has had significant impacts on the economy and brought about changes to the way our cities are functioning, including dramatic changes to working arrangements, transport and retail spending. It has also highlighted the importance of national supply chains and opportunities for Australia to emerge stronger and more resilient to global shocks.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, our cities and towns will require unprecedented economic support from all levels of government to rebuild. The pandemic will also have long lasting changes to the way our cities function and indeed to us as their residents. The development industry will play a vital role in this rebuild, but it will also be critical for planners to understand and respond to potential medium to longer term city shaping changes and opportunities presented by COVID-19.
This seminar brings together two speakers from two different levels of government in different States who have extensive experience in the planning, economics and the development industry. This seminar focused on the role planning and development will play to rebuild our economy, and strategies that governments are implementing to achieve this outcome.
