Cara Wood - Social Value Lead/ Manager Community Engagement, Transport for NSW

Time and time again, Cara witnesses incredible things happen when people draw on their imaginations, apply systems thinking and relational ways of working in order to realise the potential that lies in every community.

Cara has extensive experience in community led, Country centred strategy and implementation across housing and urban renewal, urban policy and major transport infrastructure within the non-profit, government and construction sectors in Australia and around the world.

Catalysing change is a focus area for Cara, having recently stood up the transformative Social Value Communities of Practice within consultancy and state government (Transport for NSW). Using evidence based approaches, Cara encourages transdisciplinary leaders to recognise governance linkages with grassroots non-linear systems to secure immediate and long range social value, from investment and technology to project delivery and stabilisation.

Deborah Swan - Senior Regional Planner for Country, Transport for NSW

Deborah Swan has spent more than 40 years revitalising, sharing and preserving Indigenous wisdom, contributing to the healing of Country, and bridging gaps between tradition and the present.

Deborah is Director at Mirring Aboriginal Corporation, where she protects sacred sites, empowers women and promotes her culture both at a high level and within the community. In her capacity as a Senior Regional Planner at Transport for NSW, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the future. She has held various board memberships, including for the Indigenous Firesticks Alliance, Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, 5 Lands Walk and 91porn Aboriginal Advisory Committee.

Deborah's unwavering dedication and enduring commitment to Country and community will resonate for generations to come. She says, 'I advocate for justice and respect towards Aboriginal women. For me, it’s about sharing our connection to Country and culture, embracing our diversity – this way we unite. We form a continuous bond with the world's oldest living culture; this is a reciprocal honour.’

Angelique Edmonds - Senior Lecturer, University of South Australia | Creative Director, School for Creating Change

Angelique Edmonds has a passion for design for social impact, sustainability and public engagement with diverse people to contribute to the decisions about place which impact upon their everyday lives. She is a Senior Lecturer in Architecture & Sustainable Design at Uni SA, and founder and Creative Director of the .

She has twenty years’ experience as an academic and public engagement specialist. She has consulted for local, state and federal government working with a range of public participants including living for a year in Arnhem Land undertaking participatory planning with seven different Indigenous groups, working with CALD women in Sydney’s South West, with Youth at risk of homelessness in South Australia, and young recently arrived migrants and refugees in Adelaide.

Her 2020 book Connecting People, Place & Design draws together her diverse practice and academic research. She has held a number of representative roles for AIA and AACA and taught in 4 different Australian Universities and studied PhD, M.Phil and degrees in Architecture in Sydney, London and Cambridge UK. She is also mum to a spirited 8 year old.
