PROJECT
Wellard Village 7 Day Makeover
The judges recognise the innovative, collaborative approach taken by the City of Kwinana, in partnership with the team from RAC Reconnect WA, and facilitated by David Engwicht, to inspire the local community to collectively reimagine and revitalise the Wellard Village neighbourhood centre.
The project demonstrates how local residents can be empowered to transform their neighbourhood, using a dynamic, fast paced, enjoyable and action-oriented approach, engaging people of all walks of life to get involved and make significant tangible changes to an area. The judges particularly commend the focus on young people.
The 7 Day Makeover project has acted as a catalyst to build strong and enduring relationships between Council with its community and fostered inter-generational connections with a sense of shared ownership and identity in the Wellard Village neighbourhood centre.
