PROJECT

Takara Limuna

Takara limuna are interpretative recordings of the oral history of the Mumirimina people in palawa kani. The recordings, accessed by QR Codes in key areas of the Bedlam Walls reserve, are accompanied by art installations from local Aboriginal artists that depict the area’s rich Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. The judges particularly commend the innovative approach of blending traditional knowledge with technology to educate visitors of the unique cultural importance of the reserve. The highly innovative and inclusive approach of using traditional knowledge, in the words of traditional owners, to tell the story of country has created a unique place of learning that pays respect to Aboriginal culture.

Layering the natural beauty of the area with high quality and educational art installations, viewing platforms, gathering places and tracks further reinforces the cultural significance and authenticity of place and its rich Aboriginal history. The judges believe the methods of collaboration, integration and consultation, together with the formats of presentation are adaptable and transferable to many different jurisdictions and areas across Australia.
